Ever heard of candle light dinner on a Private beach, kayaking, snorkeling in crystal clear water, i never thought of all this, as always an ordinary man can never think of these at least private beach... ahhh.. Wrong guys think beyond.. we have here in India the cheapest and the best of best Lakshadweep to enjoy all these.
Have been to Lakshadweep for Honeymoon, it’s been fantabulous experience. i was searching for information but could not find substantial data on how to go what to do how costly it will be, whom to contact, what about facilities, people, language, climate, season, care to be taken, though all who visit to Lakshadweep after this may be in position to tell all the things.
To start with Lakshadweeptourism.com is the site for some info about booking. The program is arranged by Govt body called SPORTS (Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports). You have an option of contacting SPORTS directly to Cochin (Kochi) office or authorized agent mentioned on website.
Even if you thin its managed by Govt, Don’t worry the packages are extremely professionally managed. Don’t be lured by any deals you ll find on Yatra, makemytrip or like sites
I opted for Marine Wealth Awareness Program
A six-day package by ship to Kadmat Beach Resort and Water Sports Institute.
We did Swimming, kayaking and Snorkeling. Also we had an option of Scuba Diving which I did not dare to do as it involves going down 30 – 50 feet underwater and I can’t swim, swimmers wont under’nd… (no need to worry as the instructors ll accompany you and there is no need to worry.)
The rates are some things like this:
Stay:
AC cottage: INR 5000/- per couple per day Twin sharing: Go for this… Recommended
Non AC cottage: 3000/- per couple per day Twin sharing
Food ll be included in above packages. Recommendation from me is to go for AC (as we did, was suggested by my friend Maitreyee) as the location and proximity to restaurant and private beach.
Ship:
Cost vary depending upon no of beds in a coach
2 bedded coach on Kavaratti ship is apprx 8000/- INR and 4 bedded would cost you about 6000/- INR for 2 people
By gods grace if you have to travel by passenger ship with passenger seater, then will be approx 4000/- for 2 people.
For scuba diving the charges are different (appr 1500 per dive per person) so carry some money.. Rest all tour was almost cashless.
Anyway…
The ship schedule is managed by govt itself so lot of uncertainties…But if the planned ship is not going, not to worry, the other ships will be taking you to Island and your tour wont be canceled unless something goes exceptionally wrong…
SPORTS takes good care of all tourists and makes necessary changes to make sure you reach Kadmat. Im not sure if you opt for any other package which if staying on SHIP and visting 3 islands which needs a good ship as passenger ships will have only seater class (NO Beds). We just wanted to reach Kadmat by ship, and by our luck, the planned ship had some problem (till 9 Nov I had no confirmation about the tour and the tour was from 14 Nov which is very last min call..I had booked flights and made other bookings also) and we had no option but to go by passenger ship, the journey was really difficult as there was a cyclone in Arabian Sea around same time and we thought we made a mistake. But after reaching Kadmat we were speech less…, its dream come true. We were ONLY 13 tourists… On arrival, we were taken to huts by small vehicle where we were offered coconut (Shahale in marathi) water and malai (Khobara)...
I wont tell you more as it’s the palce that one must enjoy rather that read… so happy Relaxadweep(ing)

1. Coral Reef
It is a five-day ship based holiday tour conducted on board M.V.Tipusultan. In this package the tourists visit three islands - Minicoy, Kavaratti, and Kalpeni.

To do: Swimming, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Water sports, Lagoon Cruise, Glass bottomed boat cruise etc.
4.Swaying Palm (Minicoy)
3-4 days' tour to Minicoy.
Accommodation: First Class or Tourist Class-26 in the ship, A/c – 20 beds, Non A/c – 6 beds
Climate: Min.27c Max 32c
To Do: Swmming , Snorkelling, Boating, Visiting local dwellings etc
5. Scuba Diving Package.
Scuba diving facilities are available at Kavaratti , Bangaram and Kadmat. SPORTS operates the scuba diving centre at Kavaratti. Laccdives, Mumbai operates the scuba diving centres at Kadmat and Bangaram.
(a). Dive package for beginners:- Domestic tourists availing scuba diving package to Kadmath will be charged Rs.24000/- per person for 8 days and for any additional day @ Rs.2000/- Transportation charges extra depending on mode and class of transport.
(b). Dive package for advanced divers:- Domestic tourists availing this package will be charged Rs.2000/- per day per person for accommodation. Dive charges and transportation will be extra.
